Walk to the Boardwalk Condos in Myrtle Beach

Having stayed at a Myrtle Beach boardwalk condo 8 Summers in a row I speak from experience.  The downtown area of Myrtle Beach is bursting with energy and buzz.  It is intoxicating to some while off putting to others.  No doubt most of the people renting a dddddvacation rental at the boardwalk area are on the intoxicating side of the equation....

There are many attractions at the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach that you can enjoy. Some of them are:

• Myrtle Beach SkyWheel: A giant Ferris wheel that offers panoramic views of the ocean and the city. It is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
• Nightmare Haunted House: A spooky attraction that features zombified clowns and other scary creatures. It is open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily.
• Fun Plaza Family Fun Center: An arcade with classic and modern games, such as skee-ball, pinball, air hockey, and more. It is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
• Myrtle Beach Thrill Rides: A collection of adrenaline-pumping rides, such as the Sling Shot, the Skyscraper, and the Air Strike. They are open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

The area is also loaded with timeshares which I do not recommend purchasing. I know many people who  have regretted the decision. At least with a north myrtle beach condo it pays for itself when you're not using it.

The Myrtle Beach boardwalk has a long and interesting history that dates back to the 1930s. Here are some of the highlights: The original boardwalk was wooden and ran along the oceanfront from 8th Avenue North to 1st Avenue South. It was built in the 1930s to attract tourists and provide a place for entertainment and recreation1. In the 1940s, the boardwalk was upgraded with concrete and plans were made to expand it to 5th Avenue North. However, World War II delayed the project and the boardwalk remained unfinished. In 1954, the boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel, a powerful storm that devastated the coast of South Carolina. All that remained was a concrete walkway between 9th Avenue North and 11th Avenue North, later renamed Mr. Joe White Avenue. For decades, the boardwalk was neglected and overshadowed by other attractions, such as the Myrtle Beach Pavilion, a popular amusement park that opened in 1948 and closed in 2006. The boardwalk became a place for locals rather than tourists. In 2006, the city of Myrtle Beach decided to revive the boardwalk as part of a downtown redevelopment plan. The project cost nearly $6.4 million and took four years to complete. In 2010, the new boardwalk was opened to the public. It runs 1.2 miles along the oceanfront from Pier 14 at 14th Avenue North to 2nd Avenue Pier at 2nd Avenue North. It has three sections: a raised wooden deck in the north, a carnival-like atmosphere in the middle, and a meandering oceanfront park in the south. In 2011, the boardwalk was ranked number three in the United States by National Geographic and number two by Travel and Leisure. It has become one of the most popular attractions in Myrtle Beach, featuring shops, restaurants, bars, live music, fireworks, and more.
